Practical installation steps for the Shanwu SVP intelligent valve positioner.

Users who have used the Shanwu SVP intelligent positioner are generally quite satisfied with its performance. We expect that after using the Shanwu positioner, users will choose Shanwu again for their next purchase. So, how do you install the Shanwu SVP intelligent positioner? Today, our technical editor from Shaanxi Huibo Electromechanical will introduce the specific installation steps for the Shanwu SVP intelligent positioner.
Install the feedback rod onto the positioner; the feedback rod can rotate up and down 20 degrees (40 degrees of travel) in the horizontal position. If it exceeds this range, the positioner will not function properly. For larger actuators, an optional extension rod can be used.

Installation steps for the Shanwu SVP intelligent positioner
The positioner will come with a mounting plate suitable for your valve and actuator or can be custom-made. Ensure that when the valve opening reaches 50%, the feedback rod remains horizontal. Use 1/4 inch (6mm) bolts to secure the positioner to the actuator of the valve, and at this time, the feedback pin should pass through the slot of the feedback rod, ensuring that the feedback pin is above the spring. As shown in the figure, the feedback pin should maintain a right angle with the feedback rod.
Installation of the intelligent positioner
The intelligent positioner can be installed on different actuators. The image below shows the installation of the intelligent valve positioner on a traditional single-seat valve (PSA actuator AGVB control valve).

This step in the installation process mainly determines the correct initial correspondence between the gas supply and the position of the feedback rod.
(1) Use a flathead screwdriver to rotate the A/M switch counterclockwise 180 degrees to switch the positioner to manual (or bypass) mode. At this time, the valve opening can be adjusted through the filter pressure reducing valve, and the readings of the positioner's inlet and outlet pressure gauges will be the same.
(2) Adjust the valve position to 50% of the travel by adjusting the filter pressure reducing valve.
(3) Adjust the feedback rod to a horizontal position using the feedback pin's valve rod connector, ensuring that the feedback pin maintains a 90-degree angle with the feedback rod.
(4) Switch the positioner back to automatic mode by rotating the A/M switch clockwise 180 degrees.
Double-acting intelligent valve positioner installed on a non-spring actuator (reverse actuator)
When the intelligent positioner needs to be installed on a valve with a non-spring actuator (double-acting), the air source pressure needs to enter the actuator from both the upper and lower directions of the cylinder, allowing the actuator to operate according to the control signal.

Note: Confirm the connection of the gas supply line and the pressure range indicated at the bottom of the reverse actuator installed on the positioner.
The reverse actuator has two pressure output ports:
Pressure output port 1 (OUT1) is the pressure output from the positioner through the reverse actuator.
Pressure output port 2 (OUT2) is the balanced pressure supplied by the air source.
Positive acting actuator
Connect the reverse actuator OUT1 output port to the air inlet at the top of the actuator. Connect the reverse actuator OUT2 output port to the air inlet at the bottom of the actuator.
Install the double-acting intelligent valve positioner on the corner actuator.
For the reverse acting actuator (pressure increases in the clockwise direction), connect the reverse actuator OUT1 output port to the reverse diaphragm of the actuator (pressure increases clockwise) and connect the reverse actuator OUT2 output port to the forward diaphragm of the actuator (pressure increases counterclockwise). For the positive acting actuator (pressure increases in the counterclockwise direction), connect the reverse actuator OUT1 output port to the forward diaphragm of the actuator (pressure increases counterclockwise).
Connect the reverse actuator OUT2 output port to the reverse diaphragm of the actuator (pressure increases clockwise). If the actual gas line connection differs from the above, the functionality of the positioner cannot be guaranteed.
