The traditional installation method for measuring flow or liquid level with a differential pressure transmitter has the following requirements for the layout of the pressure tapping pipes:
The pressure tapping pipes should be made of pressure-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials according to the nature and parameters of the fluid (or liquid level) being measured.
The pressure tapping pipes should be laid horizontally with a slope, and when the horizontal length of the pressure tapping pipes exceeds 30m, they should be inclined in sections.
To avoid distortion in the static differential pressure signal transmission, the positive and negative pressure tapping pipes should be as close as possible. For media that are prone to condensation or freezing, the pressure tapping pipes should be insulated and heated with electric heat, steam, or hot water. The differential pressure flow transmitter uses pressure tapping pipes to transmit the static differential pressure generated upstream and downstream of the throttling element to the measurement chamber of the differential pressure transmitter, which then converts the static pressure difference into a standard signal (usually 4-20mA) using the transmitter. Differential pressure transmitters are generally installed in local instrument cabinets (insulation boxes) on the ground or platforms, and then special insulated heating pipelines are laid.
